Arabic¶
What you'll do: switch KhataOS to Arabic, show Hijri dates, and print bilingual invoices.
Switch the language¶
- Press
Ctrl+Kon any screen, including the company list. - Choose العربية (or English to switch back).
The whole window turns right to left. The bars, menus and the screen you're on change at once; other screens already open change when you open them again.
The choice is saved on this computer for each user who signs in, so two people sharing a PC can each have their own language. It doesn't sync. Saudi and UAE companies show a hint, once, that Arabic is available.
Show Hijri dates¶
- Press
Ctrl+K. - Choose Show Hijri dates. Choose it again to turn it off.
Dates then show the Umm al-Qura Hijri date beside the Gregorian one, for example 21-Oct-2026 (10 Jumada I 1448 AH). This is for display only: the books keep Gregorian dates. Screens already open change when you open them again.
Hijri dates also print under the date on Saudi and UAE invoices and on vouchers printed in Arabic. They don't print on reports.
Typing in Arabic¶
- Shortcuts follow the physical keys, so on an Arabic keyboard layout
Con the home menu still opens Create, andYandNstill answer prompts. In Arabic, the home menu shows the key before each item. - Arabic-Indic digits (٠١٢٣) are accepted in amounts and dates and stored as ordinary digits. Amounts always show in Western digits, aligned as usual.
- Dates accept Arabic month names, such as
19 أكتوبر.
Bilingual invoices¶
Saudi Arabia and UAE invoices, credit notes and debit notes always print in English and Arabic side by side, whatever the display language. Invoices for other countries print right to left in Arabic when the display language is Arabic. See Invoices.
What stays in English¶
- Names in your books, including the standard group names, stay as typed.
- Some screens are still in English, including the ZATCA, MTD, e-invoice portal, XRechnung, US and Mexico screens, Schedule III, TDS report bodies, and cheque and return prints. Some messages for particular countries are also in English.
- The language for data entry (
Ctrl+W) isn't built yet.
